BASIC EYESHADOW 101
In order to achieve a basic and simple eye shadow make up is to have at three complimenting eye shadow shades.I personally believe that there are no standard rules in applying eye shadow. It’s a matter of preference on what type of eye makeup you want to achieve. May it be smokey, shimmery or simply natural bright eyes. What really should be considered is how eye shadow should be blended to look flawlessly perfect.
Three basic shade that compliments each other should be determined by the gradation effect of the shadow. Remember the reason why eye shadow is applied is to enhance the eye shape by giving it dimension with a pop of color. That is why different eye shape should be taken into consideration as to where each shade of the shadow should be applied.
It is to simply have a light, medium and dark shadow preferably in the same color family. Light-toned shadow is for the base. Applied to all over the lid. Could also be used as a highlighter (inner corner of the eye and on the brow bone ). Medium toned shadow is applied on the eyelid up until the crease. And finally, the darkest toned shade is for contouring. It is usually applied on the outer corner of the eye, on the crease and could also be a soft eyeliner to deeply define eyes. See, how simple eye shadow application is?
